Empowering through digitalization: Laboratory Experiments for biogas production
The EU is a world leader in biogas production and in particular a world’s leading producer of biomethane, sewage gas and landfill gas. These gases are significant corner stones of a carbon-neutral economy. The EU projections suggest that by 2050 all renewable gases will allow the EU to thrive on a completely renewable energy provision. In addition, the production of biogases is strongly grounded in a circular bio-economy, which allows for optimal use of all resources, nutrient recycling and effective waste treatment solutions. The implementation of digital tools to support the rapid growth of the European biogas industry, prepare markets for the export of related technologies from Europe to developing countries and to enable knowledge transfer and capacity building are considered relevant in these processes.
The Aksantys role in this general framework was to prepare and transfer a good practice on how the implementation of IT management programme within the biogas laboratory can provide efficiency in terms of time savings, facilitation of processes, between-stakeholders’ communication and the knowledge transfer. By collaborating with the biogas laboratory placed in the rural regions of Poland, Aksantys experts deployed a three-part process in the laboratory:
- An evaluation of the relevant milestones in the organisation; assess of the external and internal shortages.
- A development of the IT response plan, with the aim to eliminate constraints and provide efficient solutions.
- An implementation of the best technology solutions and train the staff though online on-going learning.
